Is There Netflix in Italy?

Is there Netflix in Italy? Yes, you’re in luck, there is Netflix in Italy! However, you may notice that once you get there, some of the shows that you normally watch aren’t available anymore.

While Netflix is available in a number of countries around the world (including Italy), some users have found that they are unable to watch their favorite shows when they’re traveling outside of their home country.

This is because Netflix uses geo-blocking technology to restrict access to certain content based on a user’s location.

However, there is a way to get around this restriction and continue watching your favorite shows while you’re on vacation – by using a VPN.

Does Netflix Work in Italy? How to Use Netflix in Italy

Yes, Netflix works in Italy! But in order to get access to all your shows while in Italy, you’ll need to use a VPN.

A VPN is a tool that lets you connect your computer to a server in another country (I.E. the USA) and basically pretends like you’re there!

If Netflix thinks that you’re in the US, then they will allow you to watch all of the shows that were only available on the American version of Netflix.

This works the other way as well, you can use your VPN to get access to more Italian TV shows (if you’re an Italian TV lover like me).

I’ve used the same VPN for years and I’ve always said that it’s one of the best investments for language learning that you can make.

Nord VPN is the VPN that I’ve used all over the world and recommend highly, it’s super easy to set up and they almost always have a huge discount available, especially if you’re willing to pay for 2 or 3 years instead of monthly.

So even though there is Netflix in Italy, you may still need a VPN to watch your favorite shows while on your trip.

When Did Netflix Arrive in Italy?

Although Netflix started in 1997, it only arrived in Italy in October of 2015 at the same time that Netflix expanded into Portugal and Spain.

Does Netflix Have Good Italian Shows?

Netflix has produced a few originals in Italian (you can check out my list here!) but they definitely aren’t as good as the options in Spanish or English.

If you’re looking to learn Italian through watching shows on Netflix, try watching Italian cartoons!

\While it’s great to unplug while on vacation, there may be times when you just want to watch your favorite show or movie.

If that’s the case, make sure you have a VPN so you can stay connected (and entertained!). Have you ever watched Netflix in Italy? Let us know how it went in the comments below.
