As someone who loves learning languages but is also incredibly lazy, watching cartoons in Italian was one of the best discoveries I’ve ever made! You can use these 52 Best Italian Cartoons to sit back and just practice your listening comprehension and build your vocabulary in Italian.
Here’s how to watch them, where to find them, and which ones you should start watching first.
I seriously would not be able to learn languages without italki (I’m taking 3 classes per week right now) try out a class and you’ll thank me later. They’re usually $9 or less!

52 Best Italian Cartoons on Netflix
The list is divided into two: Italian cartoons meant for kids and Italian cartoons for adults. The first 43 cartoons are created for children, however, they are the BEST resource for people of all ages to learn Italian on Netflix.
For each of the Italian cartoons I’ve included, I checked Common Sense Media to see what age group they were created for. Although you could use this to teach your child Italian using cartoons, I have also included those ages for adults.
Why? Because the best way to use this list is to start with the shows that are made for children ages 2-3, then work up to 5, 6, 7, 8, as your listening comprehension improves. So if you are a beginner, I would start with a show like Pocoyo (for Ages 3+), then once you feel ready to move up a level, you can start watching Robocar Poli (for Ages 4+).
You may feel ridiculous watching shows like these as an adult, but I can promise you that if you are focusing on learning new words and picking up what you’re hearing, you will be having way more fun than if you were watching New Girl and drowning because you can’t pick up anything.
The second part of this list has 9 shows meant only for adults (including some personal favorites like Rick & Morty, Bojack Horseman, and South Park) but these shows are meant for ADVANCED learners. The speaking is much faster and you’ll need to know a lot more words in order to follow along.
If you aren’t seeing a lot of these shows, skip to this section to learn how to get more Italian-language shows on your Netflix.
1. Winx Club

This is the only cartoon on this list that was originally created in Italian! Which is why it’s #1 on my list and I’ve watched 6 SEASONS of this fairy cartoon.
But guess what? Now I understand a heck of a lot more Italian than I did when I started.
However, for some reason all these fairies have boyfriends and the show focuses on that a lot, so it’s actually not that boring! I’d compare it to a Nickelodeon show meant for preteen girls.

How to Get More Italian Cartoons on Netflix
The first thing you should do is head to https://www.netflix.com/profiles/manage and create a Kids profile if you don’t already have one.
Then, change the Kids Section language to Italian. It will show you only kids shows that are in Italian. However, there probably won’t be a lot, which is why you are going to need to do one more thing to unlock more Italian cartoons on Netflix…
Use a VPN
I wish that no matter where you were, Netflix would show you the same content, but that’s not the case. If you are serious about learning Italian using cartoons (or teaching your children) then you definitely won’t regret investing in a VPN.
Depending on what country you are in, shows may or may not show that they are dubbed in Italian and have Italian subtitles.
I currently live in Mexico (and this was also true for France and the USA) and just searched some of my favorite TV shows and checked if they had Italian audio and subtitles and they didn’t.
HOWEVER, then I turned on my VPN and switched it to Italy and VOILA! They magically had both subtitles and audio in Italian.

For just a few bucks a month, I have access to WAY more cartoons in Italian (not to mention, more content from the UK and in French or Spanish just by switching the VPN to a different country!)
This isn’t the case for every TV show, which is why I’ve created this list of Italian cartoons that definitely have Italian audio! (I checked every single one!)
If you want to learn a language faster than ever, I also highly recommend reading Benny Lewis’s book on how to learn a language in JUST 3 months.
How to Use a VPN
There are a ton of reasons why everyone should use a VPN: to protect yourself from hackers when using public internet, to hide your IP address when streaming movies/shows illegally, and for streaming Netflix shows that aren’t available in your country.
I am not someone who has a ton of monthly subscriptions or signs up for anything very easily (seriously, we travel the world and make around 18-20,000 a year between the both of us, so we take subscriptions very seriously!) but a VPN is definitely something that is worth the small amount of money each month.
We have been using Nord VPN for the past 2 years and it has worked in every country we’ve been to so far!
I would definitely check them out and my link makes sure that you are getting a discounted deal! We have the 3-year plan since that saved us the most amount of money.

After downloading it, you can just click a country and it tricks Netflix into thinking that that is where you live!

If for some reason it doesn’t work or isn’t fast enough, just try using a different server until you find one that works!

The Best Place to Watch Italian Cartoons
For each of the shows I’ve listed below, I included whether you can find them on Netflix or YouTube. All of these Italian cartoons are available on Netflix, though.
Unfortunately, Hulu doesn’t have many options for foreign-language cartoons. So if you are going to invest in one streaming service for learning Italian, let it be Netflix!
I avoided including shows like Booba and Masha and the Bear that don’t use language very often (like Tom & Jerry).
