Is There Uber in Cannes, France?

Traveling to Cannes, France? Wondering if there is Uber in Cannes? The good news is that there is Uber in Cannes, and in many parts of the French Riviera, making it easy to travel around this beautiful part of the world.

Should You Use Uber in Cannes? Here’s Why You Shouldn’t

Honestly, taxis in general, including Ubers, should be a last resort when you’re traveling around Cannes. Why?

1. Public Transport in Cannes is Pretty Good

Even coming from the airport in neighboring Nice, the buses and trains are pretty reliable. They’re a cost-effective way of making your way around the local area and operate fairly regularly.

2. You Can Use the Taxi Cannes app

If you really want to use a taxi-based app instead of hailing them down on the street or taking public transport, Cannes has its own regional taxi app that supports the local community and economy.

You can even use this app before you arrive and book taxis from overseas, working more like a transfer system than a taxi app.

3. Cannes is Walkable

Realistically, Cannes is not that big and it’s gorgeous. The best way to see and appreciate it is by foot. This way you really get a feel for the city and the people who live there.

Not only will you see more of the city, but you’ll also save a ton of money on transportation costs! It’s a win-win situation.

When to Use Uber in Cannes

Even though Ubers can be expensive, there are some instances where taking an Uber might be better than walking or jumping on public transport. Let’s check them out.

Airports Can Be Expensive

If you’re not comfortable navigating public transport from the airport, or you’re arriving either super early or super late, you might want to take a taxi to your accommodation in Cannes.

The taxis in the French Riviera are really expensive, so much so that an Uber XL is on average 33-50% cheaper than local taxis.

Public Transport Strikes

Look, there’s a stereotype about France and strikes for a reason. I didn’t want to believe it, but really, public transport strikes happen pretty often.

This can really mess with your plans, especially if you need to get to a specific event, station, or airport.

When this happens Ubers are still more cost-effective and efficient than local taxis.

Evenings or weekends

It’s not unusual for local taxi firms to up their prices in the evenings or on weekends when the demand gets high. Although Uber has surge pricing, if you wait 5-10 minutes it normally goes back down.

Uber is also useful after a night out when you don’t want to be wandering the streets trying to flag down a local taxi.

Is There Uber in the South of France?
