Duolingo Daily Quests: What They Are & How to Earn Them

Duolingo’s Daily Quests offer three fresh challenges every day, designed to motivate consistent language practice. These quests appear in the app under the treasure chest icon at the bottom navigation bar. The Daily Quests section is part of the “Goals” tab—scroll down to view your available quests.

What Are Duolingo Daily Quests?

Daily Quests are mini-missions refreshed every 24 hours. Most users have three every day, with varying requirements and repeating themes. Typical quest types include:

  • Earning a set amount of XP (like 10, 30, or 50 XP)
  • Completing a fixed number of lessons (such as 2, 4, or 5)
  • Scoring 90% or higher in lessons
  • Achieving perfect streaks (e.g., 5 in a row correct)
  • Spending a specific time learning (such as 15 minutes)
  • Reviewing mistakes (e.g., 5 or 10 mistakes)
  • Completing legendary challenges
  • Extending your streak

These quests can scale in difficulty. The first is generally easiest and unlocks a bronze chest; the second unlocks a silver chest; the third, usually hardest, unlocks a gold chest.

Rewards for Completing Quests

Each quest completed immediately unlocks a chest. Rewards typically include gems (the in-app currency) and occasional XP Boosts. As of late 2025, standard rewards remain consistent:

  • Bronze chest: 3-5 gems
  • Silver chest: around 10 gems
  • Gold chest: around 15 gems or a 15-minute XP Boost

Claiming these is instant—just tap the notification to open your chest. If you complete all three daily quests, you get to open an additional chest with extra rewards.

Friends & Monthly Quests

  • Separate from daily quests, Duolingo also offers Friend Quests (weekly, paired with a random friend) and Monthly Challenges (which award badges and require completing a set number of daily/weekly quests in a month).
  • Review 5 mistakes
  • Review 10 mistakes
  • Complete 4 Legendary challenges

  • Check quests first thing each day.
  • Plan lessons around quest requirements.
  • Use XP boosts strategically for harder quests.
  • Complete challenging quests early—requirements sometimes change mid-progress.
  • If quests don’t sync or reward properly across devices, check for app updates or reach out to support.

I don't like them. They are very inconvenient for me. I don't have time to complete them, but because others do, I keep dropping to lower leagues. Before I waffled between diamond and obsidian, the top 2 leagues. In the past 2 weeks since this began, I've dropped twice.

You did not tell us how to find a character in lessons. How does one do That?

Hey Loretta! Finding a character just happens naturally, they mean that you need to keep taking lessons until a certain character shows up a certain number of times. There's nothing you can do to control it, it's just random. For example, you might not see Vikram in a lesson but you need to see him 3 times, so you should keep doing lessons until he shows up 3 separate times.
