I’ve been using iTalki since the beginning of 2018 and I don’t think that there is a better platform out there for learning a language quickly.
In fact, it’s one of only 3 things that I use in my language study plan.
The truth is that you can’t learn a language by only studying and using Duolingo (although those things aren’t bad!)
You have to use the language as much as possible, and that’s why iTalki is amazing. The classes are very cheap and the teachers are so friendly.
I’ve tried other platforms like Preply and can definitely tell you that they aren’t better than iTalki.

However, you need to be aware of how the payment system works so that you’re not surprised.
In order to take a class, you need to buy “credits.” With those credits, you can then buy classes. The credits are in dollar amounts.
It’s easy to get refunds this way if a teacher doesn’t show up or if you need to cancel.
However, those credits can expire if you don’t log into your account for longer than a year.
Is iTalki Safe to Use?
Yes, iTalki is perfectly safe to use. Make sure to stick to teachers that have reviews if you’re worried. I also stick to teachers who are women as a woman to make sure that I feel completely comfortable during a lesson.
I’m sure there are great teachers on iTalki who are men, but this helps me feel safe and comfortable personally.
iTalki is safe for your money as well, as long as you understand that you won’t be getting that money back to your credit or debit card.
If you’re trying out iTalki for the first time, make sure to buy just a few credits so that you know that you like it before diving in and buying more.
